Funding and Contributions

The responsibility for these children rests with each of us.The Episcopal Center has had a consistent history of generous support from many caring individuals and groups who have given freely of their time, energies and resources. In the early years, gifts and payments were meager, yet sustaining, and the financial affairs of the Episcopal Home, as it was called then, were somewhat ad hoc. Eventually funding became more systematic and dependable. Monies came from churches, families placing children at the home and eventually from the community chest.

Today the majority of the Center's revenues come through fees for services, paid by referring local jurisdictions and agencies who contract with the Center. There is no funding from The Episcopal Diocese of Washington, and only on rare occasions is there a family that pays privately for their child's treatment. Gifts, contributions from individuals as well as those from outreach committees of some churches, fund drives by the Auxiliary Board, designations from the United Way and the Combined Federal Campaign, and the earnings from a modest but growing endowment make up the smaller part of our income.

Planned giving is thoughtful philanthropy. It does not change anything for those friends of the Center who would like to start or to continue supporting the Center's work in ways that have been or may be more comfortable for them. Planned giving offers more choices for those interested in giving in ways perhaps not previously considered. The following are some options available and each provides an opportunity to help ensure that the Center's work with troubled children continues. From orphans to neglected children to emotionally troubled children, their needs have not diminished. It is unlikely that they will. The responsibility for these children rests with each of us. Your support will allow The Episcopal Center for Children to translate that responsibility into caring, effective treatment for now and for the future.  You can helpGo!
